About North Wales Awards

Between the mountains and the sea, great businesses grow.

North Wales is one of the most beautiful places in Britain to live, and one of the most demanding places to build a business. Distance, seasons and small markets ask more of every firm here.

The North Wales Awards exist to recognise the businesses that rise to that, and the people who choose to build their lives and livelihoods in the north.

Rooted in the north.

Built to last.

Worth recognising.

Why we exist

Building a business here takes something special.

A tourism business that works all year, not just all summer.

A Welsh-language firm serving its community in its own words.

A manufacturer near the border exporting across Europe.

A farm shop that became a destination.

A founder who stayed when leaving would have been easier.

The north is full of determination like this.

It deserves to be seen.

“You chose to build here.”

“North Wales is better for it.”

Which one sounds like your business?

Before you rule yourself out

Small places produce remarkable businesses.

In the north, a business with five people can be the most important employer for miles.

Perhaps you survived a winter nobody expected you to.

Perhaps you serve customers in Welsh and English every day.

Perhaps you found customers far beyond the region.

Perhaps you are the only business of your kind in the area.

Perhaps your community could not manage without you.

Perhaps that deserves recognising.

The question isn't:

“Is a small North Wales business really award material?”

A better question might be:

“Does our community know what we have achieved?”

What recognition can mean

Recognition can reach well beyond the north.

Visibility

It can help people outside the region discover what you do.

Trust

Independent recognition can give visitors and customers a reason to choose you.

Pride

A moment for your team and your community.

Connections

An evening among businesses from across Wales.

Talent

It can help you attract people to live and work in the north.

Legacy

A recognised year in a story built to last.

Think of someone

The business your village depends on may never nominate itself.

They may say:

“We're a long way from anywhere.”

“It's just a small business.”

“Nobody would notice us.”

And sometimes that is exactly why somebody else needs to say:

“We notice.”

“You matter here.”

“You deserve to be recognised.”

If a North Wales business came to mind, perhaps their nomination starts with you.

How judging stays fair

Recognition only matters when it is earned.

The value of an award depends on the integrity behind it, so the way entries are judged should be clear before anyone enters.

Free to enter

Nominating and entering cost nothing. No category depends on buying a ticket, a table or a package.

Independent judging

Entries are scored by an independent panel, not by the organisers, working under a confidentiality agreement.

Clear criteria

Every category publishes what the judges look for, so you can read it before you enter.

Conflicts managed

Sponsors support the awards. They never decide the results.

Recognition

The north builds quietly. Let it be celebrated loudly.

Maybe it is the business on the coast.

Maybe it is the producer in the hills.

Maybe it is the team that stayed.

Or maybe it is you.

Distance is no reason to go unnoticed.
